California Poppy Seed Bomb

The California Poppy (Eschscholzia californica) is the official state flower of California. It is a resilient, sun-loving annual or short-lived perennial native to the western United States and Mexico, famous for its vibrant, cup-shaped golden-orange blossoms that open in the sun and close at night or on cloudy days. It has finely divided, blue-green foliage and solitary flowers with four delicate petals. While typically grown as an annual, completing its life cycle in a single season, though it readily self-seeds.

It prefers poor, sandy, and well-draining soil. It is drought-tolerant once established. Requires full sun to bloom optimally. It does not transplant well. Sow seeds directly into the garden in late fall or early spring by broadcasting them over cleared soil and lightly pressing them in.
