(Lactuca sativa)

Great Lakes 118 is a bolt resistant crisphead variety. Producing large, dense, cabbage-like heads with a crisp texture and mildly sweet flavor, it matures in about 68–90 days. Thriving in full sun or part shade, it handles heat and resists tip burn better than older cultivars.
Planting Time: Direct sow outdoors in early spring as soon as the soil can be worked. For a continuous harvest, plant a new batch every 3-4 weeks until early summer.
Depth & Spacing: Sow seeds1/4 of an inch deep. Space plants 10 to 12 inches apart in rows spaced 12 to 18 inches apart.
Germination: Seeds typically sprout in 2 to 10 days when soil temperatures are between 60°F and 70°F.
Care: Keep the soil consistently moist. Because it's a cool-weather crop at heart, providing a bit of afternoon shade can help extend the growing season in hotter climates.
