Scarlet Nantes is a sweet, and nearly coreless heirloom carrot variety developed in France in the 1850s. It produces bright orange-red, cylindrical roots measuring 6 to 7 inches long with blunt tips, maturing in about 65 to 75 days. It is a favorite variety of Alaskan gardeners. With its crisp, fine-grained texture with a very sweet taste its excellent for fresh snacking, juicing, cooking, and freezing. It performs well in heavy or average garden soils and stores nicely after harvest.
